We are Ian MacLean and Trisha Hall, and we want to thank you for visiting our website. We are a couple who works throughout the Last Hope Province in Chilean Patagonia grazing land with regenerative agriculture practices and taking people on the greatest adventures of their lives!

We run our ranching operation together with horse riding and other tourism activities. We love to run our multi-day adventures where we can take people on tailor made tours exploring our land and enjoying our horses.

Trisha Hall

Trisha is originally from Milwaukie, Oregon and has been living in Puerto Natales since 2012. She has 10 + years guiding experience in the region with expertise in trekking and horseback riding. She has worked for various outfitters in the Torres del Paine national park and has been part of Estancia la Peninsula team since they started tourism in 2016. Over the years she has mastered the art of herding sheep and cattle and can be found summiting mountains, playing music and on horseback In her free time.

Trisha & Ian

We met in 2015 working in the trails at Torres del Paine National Park. We have been exploring Patagonia and the American Northwest since then. We spend most of the year in our home in Patagonia and visit family and friends in the USA for our low season in July / August.

Ian MacLean Kusanovic

Ian is a 4th generation Puerto Natales native was raised on its surrounding ranches. Today he continues the legacy of his great grandfather who came in the late 1800ˋs to Patagonia by doing regenerative grazing with sheep and cattle across the province.

“We believe in the old ways of grazing animals, coincidentally they are now the right way to manage land and we love it!  We imagine a Patagonia with abundant ecosystems. Where modern livestock, ancient wildlife and human beings live together in harmony, regenerating the land and producing food and fiber that is sustainable, absorbs CO2 and creates a thriving culture of the countryside to be shared with visitors of this exceptional part of the world.”

OUR ANIMAL PARTNERS

Barbucho Sheepdogs
These incredibly smart and tireless workers are our own local breed. Usually each of us have their own dogs and we go with them mostly everywhere. Trisha has 2 and Ian 5 barbuchos to help them in their daily tasks.
Livestock Guard Dogs
These guys have come not too long ago to Patagonia, they allow us to protect our sheep from predators without having to hunt them like in the old days. They live with their flock and we have 8 of them protecting our sheep fulltime.
The main Grazers
Between all of our close family we manage about 3000 sheep and 400 cows. They move around the land, grazing, trampling and fertilizing while providing us with great tasting sustainable meat and fibers. We also have Sally, our pet sheep always wandering around.
Horses
We have about 75 horses, about 30 of them are the famous Peninsula whites, 20 are our Baguales herd for sheepherding and riding tours and about 15 younger horses to be tamed and trained. They all live outside free and as a herd all year round.
